Atmosphere

Can't remember the last time I heard 'get ya tits out for the lads' Now that got the ball rolling
Sometime in the mid 90s a bride and groom - straight from church, wedding dress, morning suit etc. were introduced to the crowd before kick off, within a few seconds the chants of "Does she take it, does she take it, does she take it up the ***** " rang round the Boleyn

The away games used to be lads going away getting ratarsed and having fun. Now it's full of geriatrics and families from the main stand who clap on their knees.
Its people who can afford it or have a lot of spare time. Also the club have encouraged lots of families to attend VP due to the prices so its no surprise to see those same families starting to travel to away games.

We need some new chants for the team the same old Everywhere we go is getting boring now. Not only that the Midland Rd song is getting old too. We need some new chants so c'mon Ointment give us some new chants. Or I might.......

Discussing with my brother earlier he reminded me that a second chant of "just like her mum, she takes it up the *** ", seconds before the PA got turned up and the DJ played "Congratulations" and drowned out the chants

Yup I mean how much would it cost to rip out some seats and put up railings
Its just the cost of ripping up the seating and putting rail seats up in as once they have been installed the ground layout will have been changed and so a new safety certificate will have to be issued and this can cost up to £10-20k.

Until the government change law regarding standing in the top 2 tiers it would be pointless installing them as they would have to be replaced by seats after 2 years in the championship unless the law was changed in the mean time.

Could you imagine that being sung now, misogyny misogyny offence offence sexism sexism.
It will keep getting more & more sanitised until it's an atmosphere like you may expect to experience at the theatre because "we're not in the 80's anymore" apparently
Nothing sanitised about Gary Jones, Garry Thompson, Nahki Wells or Stephen Darby chants and they could get the crowd going. Nothing to do with it being sanitised or a " problem with the modern age".

If you are dreaming of a time when racist and sexist chants were acceptable then you should have a strong word with yourself.

I think the atmosphere has tailed off because previously we were on an upward trajectory with the league cup final being the catalyst for getting everyone singing (that second half non stop singing will live long in the memory). After that with the flags and "take me home" it seemed everyone wanted to join in. Then came the Chelsea game and "everywhere we go" followed by the play offs.

This year we've been knocked out of both major cups and after a great start we slipped off the pace. If we can keep the winning run going I'm sure the atmosphere will pick up again, but we need to feel like it's backs against the wall to get us going. If we can be pushing for top 2 then there'll be nowhere else with a better atmosphere than Valley Parade.

Also noticed the lack of songs for our new crop of players. That promotion season we had a catchy little song for nearly every player on the team, meaning we didn't sing the same 2/3 ones constantly for the duration, which does get boring. The lads surrounding the drum need some new material for the new players. I'm not nearly creative enough!
