Exactly, Joe Hart consistently makes the kind of mistakes that Colin Doyle can only dream about and gets paid as much in a week as Doyle does a year.

And have my bank account hacked by Crown Prince Ali Al syaid-Hussain of Nigeria's fraud squad. No chance. At least mine is a genuine number for people with sight difficulties

I know, some on here would have you believe Colin Doyle is as well. He's not shit, he's just a very naughty boy.

Just seen the full highlights, im not convinced he was 100% at fault for the goal but I think he could have done better. The sky highlights also show a save shortly before our equaliser where he has to be more convincing for me. It was a scuffed shot across which he again palms out which would have been dangerous if anyone followed up. As a no 1 keeper, he should be holding them for me

See the goalcam from Oxford's twitter feed: https://mobile.twitter.com/OUFCOfficial/status/907949395685117954/video/1

Clear deflection that puts additional swerve on the ball. Doyle understandably gets wrong-footed and just does what he can to keep the original shot out.

Whilst he has been making some mistakes, it would be harsh in the extreme to suggest he might have done better with this one IMO.

Have a look at this link, I put it on earlier in the thread. It shows the goal from the back of the net and shows how much difference the deflection made:

I can't really disagree with anything you say above, it just appears that our management don't think, at the moment anyway, that the new guy is better than Doyle. Didn't someone say in an earlier thread that Raeder dropped a massive howler at a previous club that meant his club losing the league? Either way, if the guy actually is better than Doyle I would be delighted to have him in the team. But if he isn't Doyle will do for me in this league. In my opinion speaking as someone who couldn't play in goal to save his life :)

Second goal he was not in the right position and had to sling out his left foot when he should have dived left to block the shot. Can't be best to run at the player and narrow the angle in the hope that any shot will be stopped by an outstretched leg. First goal seemed like fine margins also.Think he was in the right place to save to his right, but anticipated or reacted too slow to cover.

most shots he saves he pushes out back into play...... we need to be quicker on the ball before the opposition can get to it. The conditions were lousy last night downpour wind and a rather dark stadium

Would be more worried if he'd let the initial shot in. He does well to palm it, looks hard and fast, and deflected.

They really cut us up there and are a good team

Hope you have your tin hat on :D. I kind of agree with you, it's one of those that if you do get a glove on it, it goes wide. Not gonna criticise him for that one but they are the sort of saves that if made on a regular basis get you noticed by the better teams looking for a top keeper.

I assume you have never watched the likes of De Gea who use that technique all the time to try and save one on ones as its much easier to get down quicker that way than diving, also by diving you naturally leave a bit of a gap next to where your feet are and makes it easier to score.

Every game of footballs different and every keepers different so you can't compare other teams keepers if you haven't seen the games they played in.
Doyle's had a full season and pre season to improve and I see little to no improvement at all. He's a good shot stopper and we had a decent defence in front of him last season which helped towards his clean sheets but for his height he should be coming out for corners and not hesitating. Relying on his defence all the time and expecting them to clear it is not the way forward.

Its not about scoring all the time though is it its about the performance and charlie always puts a shift in. Johnny Mac was a fourth tier keeper and he was better than Doyle :)

I don't think he's going to get dropped tbh I think he's one of Stu's favourites, he never got dropped last season.
