Frank Stapleton currently speaking on Pulse 2 ....... Listen if you can
Just listening Ronnie, interesting.
Someone ask him what the thinking behind Mike Duxbury was?
Hardly surprising he doesn't have a good word for Big Geoff .
Well I have a good word for Big Geoff ... but I don't think it's allowed on here!
Old boys club.
Mixed feelings about the man @DennisBantam, he got our team to the Premier something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime, then nearly to our club out of business.
Agree Bronco - even at that time I felt GR pulled the trigger too early, 'cos Frank had us pointing in the right direction.
Has Frank ever chased a senior position since ? A touch of Trevor Cherry, and turned his back ? Neither were treated well, by the club.
Cherry wanted out, said as much in the interview he did for a bcfc history video, saw himself more in a directors role, which he took at huddersfield. Wasn't treated well but it was becoming obvious that yorath was the tactically astute one.
I was serving abroad at the time (NO social media !) so thank you for that.
And Gordon Cowans
Lennie Lawrence was hardly an inspirational appointment for sure .
Signed by Chris Kamara
Really? I thought he was there well before Kammy.
I was working that day, and couldn't get time off, yet the fanfare of his appointment, and fans in the stand made for good viewing, later. Lenny talked the talk, but had no legs when it came to the walking. Being generous, but within a dozen games many City fans (On the Terraces) were in disbelief that GR could have appointed such a man. Uninspiring and totally out of touch with where we lay, at that time.
Thank goodness the fanbase actually grew, rather than shrank, and we die hards were witness to our rise to the PL. Even though I worked and lived outside Yorkshire for a few of those years, I still averaged about 70% home games. My only disappointment in all that time was missing the Wolves match !
He'd done well at Charlton and Middlesbrough think that's why Geoff brought him in, the funny thing was on the night he unveiled Lennie at a question & answers fans forum I asked who Lennie thought would be up there with us come the end of the season, his answer was I'm not to families with teams in this division .
And that soon became obvious.
Is there a link to this interview anywhere?
That's gotta hurt. Seeing Beagrie,Blake and Mills run the show that day was something i'll never ever forget. The feeling I had that day surpasses anything we achieved under PP (and that was special)
