Leeds United's £800,000 offer for Birmingham City striker Robbie Blake has been rejected.

The former Burnley striker has only been at St Andrews for six months after joining the club from Turf Moor during the January transfer window.

Blues paid £1.25 million for the 29-year-old's services and the club are believed to want an offer closer to that fee in order to part company with Blake.

Leeds are reportedly set to up their offer early next week as Kevin Blackwell looks to build a side capable of challenging for the promotion places next term.

The Whites have the perfect opportunity to negotiate with Birmingham as the clubs are coincidentally both in Norway next week on pre-season tours.

The club currently have a number of trialists training with the squad, including the likes of Catanha and Georges Ba and Blackwell has been impressed with what he has seen.

"The trialists have all been of a very good quality and are desperate to earn a contract," explained the Leeds boss.

"I will take 23 players to Norway and there are still places up for grabs."

How can leeds possibly afford £800,000 transfer fees? They're gambling big time on promotion and when it doesn't come...

...they're going under. :D

It might represent better business for Brum after they signed Pandiani and Forssell as well as having Morrison and Heskey, Blake would be a fringe player and it looks as though they've got about a mill..
